What is the Chat Line?
FOR YOUR SAFETY: CLICK THE BANNER AT THE TOP OF THE WEBPAGE TO LEAVE THE SITE AT ANY TIME DURING THE CHAT
The HOPE Works Chat Line is a free and confidential service that provides help and support through a chat function over our website. It works just like instant messaging; you communicate by typing messages back and forth. You'll be chatting with a trained advocate.
Chat line services:
Support and information for survivors of sexual violence
Support and information for partners, friends, and family of survivors of sexual violence
Options counseling (What can I do after a sexual assault?)
Safety planning (physical, mental, and emotional)
Referrals to resources in Chittenden County, and/or resources in your area
Safety concerns and information:
You do not have put any information that can be used to identify you, as it is not required to speak with an advocate. Only include what is comfortable and safe for you.
You can end the conversation at any point. It is your choice!
Please be aware that we cannot guarantee your personal device is free from any spyware or other internet history tracking tools.
If for any reason you feel uncomfortable or unsafe using the chat line, you may contact us through our 24/7 free and confidential hotline at (802) 863.1236.
Using the chat line does not prohibit you from using the hotline. Both are here to support you!
If you do not see a blue banner in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen while on our site, open a new tab and retype our website (hopeworksvt.org) into your browser.
Our current chat line hours are:
Monday - 10:00AM to 1:00PM
Tuesday - 3:00PM to 6:00PM
Wednesday - 9:00AM to 11:00AM
Thursday - 12:00PM to 2:00PM
During the posted hours, an advocate will be available to support you. Chat line hours are subject to change. This webpage will be updated accordingly.
Your name and/or email is not required to use the chat line. It will ask you for that information once you use the chat, but an advocate will still be able to respond to you without it. Your safety and comfort is important to us!
Outside of the posted hours, it may take up to the next chat line hours to get a response. We understand that the chat line may be the resource you are most comfortable with. If you are in need of immediate support outside of chat line, please call our 24/7 confidential hotline at (802) 863-1236. If you are in an emergency situation, please call 911 to get help. To check for a response, you only need to go onto the HOPE Works website. Any new responses will be updated on your device.
